Shubham Water World

It could be called the pride of Nashik as it is the city’s only water park. For a place that struggles with water issues in the summer, Shubham promises and delivers a fantastic, drenching and memorable experience, besides the possibility of putting aside all your water worries. The park is situated a bit off the road and the road connecting it to the highway is short of both a mud road and a jagged pass. The park timings are 10 am to 5 pm and the entry fee of Rs. 600 is inclusive of food and an unlimited supply of popcorn and candy floss. An additional 50 bucks is charged for a special nylon costume, which isn’t always in the best condition. The park is pleasant and well maintained. In fact, it gives the impression that there are more employees than there is work, so you often see them sitting around idly chatting and whiling away time looking at visitors having a ball.

There is entertaining music playing all day save for the half hour lunch break. The slides are pretty enjoyable and fairly well maintained, I say ‘fairly well maintained’ because sum of the slides aren’t very slippery and you honestly have to push yourself to reach the end. Another shortcoming is the dirt on the staircase that leads to the larger slides. Perhaps a carpet would help address the problem. The floats that are provided are hardly inflated fully and even the one’s that are, soon lose their pressure. The boards that are supposed to be used for a particular slide are a bit dirty and off-putting. The wave pool is not to be missed as it is on for only half an hour twice in the day: before lunch and before closing time.
The food is excellent. The menu is: puri, jeera rice, potato bhaji, dal, paneer, sheera and fryums. The puris aren’t very hot by the time lunch is served and so are unable to satisfy. The jeera rice is well-cooked and goes better with the paneer than with the dal. The potato bhaji is an excellent side dish and the sheera is very rich with ghee. After such a heavy meal, one cannot but take a little while to relax and let the digestive juices do their thing. Unfortunately there isn’t much else to do there but chat and before you can get into anything meaningful the music is back on, drowning your voice. The aquarium contains some really exotic and beautiful sea creatures and the fish spa, although enticing is a bit heavy on the wallet.

The employees are very gracious and are willing to extend a helping hand if needed. They look smart in their uniforms and seem a bit forlorn when it’s time to close an exciting day – good signs with regard to their loyalty and workplace happiness. Shubham Water World promises a memorable day for everyone who goes there. Did I mention that it’s scenic for taking pictures? It is an ideal spot for groups of tender aged persons looking to have fun and entertain themselves.
