Perhaps one of the most eagerly awaited films of the decade. Avengers: Infinity War packed a huge punch (quite literally). Not only did it showcase an ensemble of the finest Marvel characters to hit the screen in recent times, it did so with such comfort and flair that you couldn’t help but take notice. All the more if you were enchanted by the last Avengers outing.

At first sight, it seemed that Infinity War had bitten too big a piece of pie but it grew a huge jaw to chew it up nicely. DC’s attempt at bringing together a group of heroes ended up in a thick mess (Justice League was nothing short of a failure). Marvel was weary of the feat but ended up executing it quite well. Not only did they come up with an entertaining blockbuster, they left audiences hungry with their ambiguous ending and this is a hunger no amount of popcorn or tacos can fill!

The film starts with a rare scene. Distress and trouble is written all over. Surprisingly these emotions are carried throughout the film. The whole film is one big state of emergency. How that plays out, I will leave to your viewing. The story flows quite well despite a mixing up of so many universes. Marvel’s trademark humour punctuates scenes of intensity and helps lighten the mood of an otherwise sombre film. The acting performances are great and the music score helps keep the momentum of the scene going. Hawkeye was missing entirely from the film which is a bit startling. Although I have to confess that the long gap since the last film didn’t help in keeping the trend of the story fresh. Despite the length of the film, it doesn’t get tiresome. The plot progresses rapidly and its build up is quite intense. Watching it in 3D is a real plus.

The film ends on an ambiguous note but like any Marvel movie the ambiguity is only a channel to something newer and better.
