Jurassic World (2015) (Movie Review)

Dir: Colin Trevorrow
Starring: Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard
Dur: 2 hrs 4 mins
Genre: Sci-fi
Rating: 9/10
PG: Violence.

I was not a big fan of Jurassic Park. I had watched the film but was hardly impressed. It followed, for the most part, the traditional horror sequences and the graphic design was pretty decent considering the time. Jurassic World, the first of a new series of Jurassic films, uses the previous film merely as a springboard. While the basic ideas remain similar, the film has a whole new feel – and not just in graphic design.

The acting is impeccable. Chris and Dallas deliver stunning performances, not to mention the two kids who add their own twist to the tale. The CGI is brilliant. I never had the feeling that everything was purely artificial created. The creatures and the environment is vividly engaging. However, the story lacks novelty and innovation. The tech is state-of-the-art and so are the dinosaurs, who are products of futuristic genetic engineering. It’s no surprise that technology if not careful, can also lead to the destruction of human life and this is essentially the case here. The outcome is pretty obvious when you have dangerous creatures kept on display in a tourist park, somewhere in the middle of nowhere in a film – there’s going to be havoc and death.

Jurassic World can boast of an airtight adventure that keeps you on the edge of your seat, hungering for more. The plot is not impeccable but the inaccuracies and weakness can be glossed over by the fantastic production. You don’t want to miss this, trust me, it’s worth every dime.
