This film, should you choose to watch it, is guaranteed to blow your mind. (Don’t worry, this review is not going to be destroyed in the next 5 seconds so take your time to read it.)

Like all Mission Impossible films, this one has a killer beginning and ending. I had to put it out there, right at the beginning. For me, this is one of the most satisfying and enthralling film series of all time since it promises you great things and delivers the goods with a bang (literally!)

Tom Cruise is getting old but despite this fact, the film does quite well to showcase him for the action star that he is sans his obvious aging. Hardly for a moment, are you given the opportunity to sit back and think about this. I mean it like I wrote it; this film keeps you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. It’s no surprise that some critics have called it the greatest action film of all time. Personally, I think that title is fitting. Christopher McQuarrie is nothing short of a genius. He has crafted an incredibly intricate and entertaining spy thriller with all the trappings of a ‘great’ film. However, I must note that it is perhaps not the most ‘impossible’ of the Mission Impossible missions. Previous missions were far more critical and seemingly impossible. This one however, stands out for a number of things, first among them plot development. It doesn’t do the nosedive that other films do with regard to the mission. It builds up really neatly and surprises you at every twist.

The cast are impeccable. Tom must be hailed for delivering a stunning performance. He went to the extent of breaking his leg during the shooting of one of the scenes to ensure that the best reached the silver screen. This speaks volumes of his commitment to his craft and his dedication. Another thing that I liked about the film was its weaving in of loose threads from the previous film. The sheer creativity of developing and carrying out the mission is exhilarating. The plot is so tight that you cannot afford to blink. The suspense grows on you right upto the final moment when you are allowed to breathe a final breath of relief. The film is so great my only problem was that I didn’t get the chance to see it in theatre. That would have been the real deal.
