Genre: Crime-drama
Rating: 9/10

I don’t think any other serial that I have watched before (and I have watched some pretty great ones) has managed to grip in the fashion that Blacklist had. Frankly, it rendered me sleepless with suspense. I could hardly wait for the next episode to ease the tension. The creator needs a mighty cheer for this masterpiece of crime and drama. The acting is impeccable, especially James Spader. He carries the show literally and figuratively. The other lead actors do play significant parts but Spader steals the show.

We follow Raymond Reddington (Spader) a former agent turned criminal who has ascended the heights of notoriety and who suddenly gives himself up to the FBI and agrees to exchange information on the criminal underworld in exchange for some benefits. The FBI then, creates a special undercover force to work on Reddington’s intel. This isn’t the sole storyline of the serial. This appears to be so but in fact there are quite a few other storylines that function as undercurrents and sometimes as driving currents throughout the series. The character of Liz, one of the members of the team, is perhaps the key since events always surround her and the story thrives on the ambiguous relationship between her and Reddington. Each season builds up with more drama and thrills. The fourth season was really a rollercoaster with a poignant climax.

I absolutely loved this series. I actually fancy the crime genre very much so am attracted and sympathetic to it, but Blacklist, even though it seemed pretty ordinary, was different and gripping. Wishing you a happy experience with this nail-biting drama.
