Heaven is for real (2014) movie review

Dir: Randall Wallace
Cast: Greg Kinnear, Kelly Reilly, Jacob Vargas
Duration: 1 hr 39 mins

Is Heaven for real? I’m sure the question has crossed your mind at some point of time. We have often heard stories about heaven, read about it, seen it in pictures or in the movies, but the fundamentally personal question remains: Do I believe in heaven? Because ultimately, it’s me and God. No one or nothing else is going to change that.
This film, based on a true story, tells the experience of a boy, Colton, who while being operated upon for a ruptured appendix has an experience of visiting heaven. He was four at the time. His father, Todd, a pastor, brushes aside Colton’s experience as being a figment of childish fantasy. But some part of him is intrigued and disturbed. The Burpos, like many families, are struggling to make ends meet. In the midst of this crisis, Colton’s experience casts a shadow of confusion and uncertainty upon them. Todd, being a pastor, has preached a cartload about heaven but after hearing his son talk about heaven, he is not so sure about his faith.

The family makes this journey of faith and stand up for their belief in heaven, strengthened by Colton’s experience. Their experience affects the lives of many in their church and ends up being a community faith builiding experience.
